Constance Lake Lodge and Seaplane Base is family owned and operated since 1994 by the Haddad family consisting of Chuck & Sylvie (the parents), Chas & Brigitte (their children) and Carly, Chas’ spouse.  The business itself was established back in the 1930’s.

Owning a seaplane themselves, the Haddad’s were already familiar with the location having stopped by many times for aviation fuel.  Back in those days the restaurant was 1/3 the size it is now with the remainder used as living quarters and the menu was limited to snack food, sandwiches and whatever could be made on an electric grill.  Since then many renovations and additions have been made to accommodate the growing number of guests.

“I’ll never forget when we first opened, our menu was limited to about 5 hot items and we had no idea how to actually run a restaurant!”

The lodge is situated on Kanata's only natural lake, 2 miles from March Road, off the Dunrobin Road.  Many confuse it with being part of the Ottawa river or Constance Bay but it is neither.  With limited access to the lake, many people are unaware of this unique setting.
